Braids are back and hitting the hair fashion scene again! Whether long and loose or twisted into an up do, braids are high in trend.

Braids are passed on for many generations and surely they can never go wrong. Trends may come and go but the classics stays forever. Hair braiding has been around since 3000 BC and is originated in ancient Egypt and Africa.

The Egyptians used to wear their hair short on a casual day. On special occasions, however, Egyptians had been known to wear black wigs. The women, not only had long hair wigs, they also had their wigs braided and decorated with ivory and gold.

Hair braids come in all shapes, sizes and styles such as fabric braids, pigtail braids, braided Mohawk, tiny braids and cornrows braids which we have seen on the latest runways.

For example, at the Antonio Marras spring 2012 show at Milan Fashion Week models were sported with round-the-crown braids.

A very popular style this season is the braided Punk or the braided Mohawk hair style is more the dramatic braid version. This style needs strong holding products that will make the style long lasting. But as you know strong styling products drying the hair out so you will have to use the proper hair treatments.

Kenzo who is famous for his patchworks and energetic colours has presented her FW-2012-13 collection at the Paris Fashion Week. Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are infusing unexpected prints and patterns and vibrant colors to their coming season.

Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are known for being hip and choosing pieces for the young. For their second season at Kenzo, they presented a vibrant collection of mixed prints, bold colors, geometric knits and monochromatic suits in velvet.

The New York-based duo, who founded cool New York label Opening Ceremony may seemed an unexpected choice to take over Kenzo after taking from Antonio Marras in July last year.

With the new collections, they try to inject the brand with a youthful spirit and a sense of fun and cheekiness. But we also want to respect and preserve the traditions of the Kenzohouse, such as the importance of prints and the sense of worldliness and travel that has been intrinsic to every collection in the history of Kenzo.

Masks are a symbol of pretense and camouflage; they present a stylized cover to the world. Aside from being symbolic and a bit ironic provide an ethereal aesthetic to the photo shoot that captures the attention of the viewer while evokes emotions from the audience.

Makeup artist Phyllis Cohen has created a collection of lace makeup appliqués called ’’Face Lace’’ that embellish the face with intricate twirls and lace patterns.

The Face Lace makeup works as stickers with adhesive backing and protective paper that has to be peeled off before attaching the appliqué to the skin. Face Lace can be worn with little makeup. Eyelid appliqués can be accentuated with eyeliner and some lip color.
