By 1997 he was also appointed creative director of Louis Vuitton, where he designed the first ready-to-wear collection for the brand and successfully revived the accessories range.

In March 2011 it was reported in the press that he would be replacing former head designer John Galliano at Dior. Marc Jacobs has firmly closed the rumour that he will move to Christian Dior, explaining to the press, he still has “so much more to do” at Louis Vuitton. Asked if it was his choice, he said: ‘Well, it’s a little bit more complicated than that, but we agreed that it was probably best for everyone.’ He has a number of goals he hopes to achieve at Vuitton including releasing a new fragrance with master perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud in the near future.

In November 2011, Marc Jacobs announced the shocking news that his entire Spring-Summer 2012  collection was stolen in transit from Paris to London. Marc Jacobs is offering money for any information that might reveal the whereabouts of his Spring- Summer 2012 collection. It’s been one of the most talked about fashion crimes to date.

This is not the first time thieves have targeted high-profile designers. In 2009, 75 Victoria Beckham dresses worth half a million dollars were stolen on transit in New York and in 2007, Christopher Kane‘s full spring- summer collection was stolen from his studios in London’s East End.
