Bezgraniz Couture Awards in Moscow – Stylert.com

 

Bezgraniz Couture is an annual international design competition for people with disabilities. There are eleven finalists who have fought against 80 Designers . German Fashion Designer Vivien Schlüter is one of the nominees who will participate at the upcoming fashion show on May 11th in Moscow.

The purpose of the competition is to create comfortable, beautiful clothes and accessories for people with different needs, including for those with immobility and limitations caused by disabilities.

 

The competition invited designers and fashion houses from around the world, to express their creative efforts and ideas in a new direction. The Award attracts designers from many different countries among them they are  from USA, Germany, China, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Russia. This international award takes place once per year.

 

The talented fashion designer Vivien Schlüter is one of the finalists. Her nominated collection called ‘’Dress’n'Roll” is focused on simple lines and functional details.

Sydney Fashion Week 2012-2013- Stylert.com

 

The Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) has been held from April 30 to May 4 in Sydney.

The event brings together the elite of Australia‘s growing fashion scene, with a selection of local designers who are getting the chance to present their collections before an international audience and potential buyers.

Many of these designers are all well-known throughout Australia as like Camilla Franks who is known for her colorful graphic prints or Camilla Freeman-Topper for modern silhouettes with her brother Marc, Dion Lee for his structured tailoring,

Rachel Gilbert for her luxury embellishments, We Are Handsome for its luxury swimwear collection,Ksubi is known for its jeans and Terry Biviano for her highly coveted shoe designs.

International guests at the fashion week were: Rumi Neely from Los Angeles, Natalie Joos from New York, Bryan Boy from Manila and Candice Lake and Kirsty Hathaway from London.

Fashion is becoming an important industry for Sydney and the state of NSW, employing some 66,000 people across design, manufacturing, wholesaling and retailing, and generating an income of around 7.5 billion U.S. dollars each year.

Almost 40 percent of Australia’s creative industries are based in Sydney or NSW with around 150,000 people in NSW directly employed in the sector, across film, music, design and fashion.

Alternative Fashion Week London- Stylert.com

 

Alternative Fashion Week in London has been held from 16-21 April at the Spitalfields Traders Market. The cultural quarter makes the perfect setting to showcase alternative fashion of recent graduate fashion designers.

Young designers are offered the opportunity to present their creations and get some press attention on the catwalks. London Alternative Fashion Week is where all the best new designers are to be discovered.

It provides a genuine alternative for them to present their work directly to the press, public and the fashion industry. Designers come from all over the UK and other parts of the world including Italy, Spain, Norway, Poland, Bulgaria, Uruguay & Sri Lanka.

With 14 designers per day the quirky and wonderful fashion theatricals just keep on coming. There was also a Fashion Market where some of the designers will be selling their clothes, textiles and accessories.

Original and recycled textiles are a major feature. There were women’s and men’s wear from the sublime to the sensational, with an emphasis on environmental awareness and ethical sourcing.Alternative Fashion Week also encourages a diverse range of models and offers training to aspiring Naomi Campbells keen to get out on the catwalk.

AFW, organised by Alternative Arts, adds a real depth of flavour to London’s fashion circuit. They’ll be back in April 2014.

Bill Gaytten for John Galliano- Stylert.com

 

Bill Gaytten revealed the John Galliano Fall Winter 2012-13 Women’s Ready-To-Wear collection at Paris fashion week.

Bill Gaytten is a British-born designer who studied architecture at the Bartlett School of Architecture at University College in London. He went on to work with Galliano at both his eponymous label and at Dior. Bill Gaytten has been part of Galliano’s eponymous label for 23 years.

Bill Gaytten was inspired by the drawings of the illustrator Aubrey Beardsley, as a result the designer reinterpreted a poetic and romantic collection.

The collection features beautiful blouses with poet collars, berets trimmed with feathers and bird wing headpieces, classic riding coats trimmed jackets and dresses with a romantic ruffled necklines. The dramatic final look of the show was a flowing chiffon cape over little black with a surge of red and thigh-high stockings.

Bill Aubrey Vincent Beardsley was an English illustrator and author. His drawings in black ink, and influenced by the style of Japanese woodcuts, emphasized the grotesque, the decadent, and the erotic. He was a leading figure in the Aesthetic movement which also included Oscar Wilde and James A. McNeill Whistler.

Viktor & Rolf FW- 2012-13- Stylert.com

 

Designer duo Viktor & Rolf are famed for their high-concept catwalk shows and extravagant collections. The Dutch designers have presented their Fall- Winter 2012-13 collection at the Paris Fashion Week.

The Dutch designers have taken the fashion world by storm over the last 15 years. The duo s unique style by blending of cool irony and surreal beauty makes them one of the most original designer team in haute couture.

Dutch born Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren are fashion’s forward-thinking design duo, known for their conceptual fashion shows, clever ideas and chic clothing captured beyond all imagination.

Viktor & Rolf perhaps inspired by the dark of the werewolf walking in the moonlight tuned the runway into a melodramatic show. The collection was featuring glamorous mink fur coats, animal prints, oversized silk pyjama suits, sheer lingerie-style dresses, tweed shorts, and on the end the elegant black and gold gowns with metallic fringing which was layered down the whole length of the skirts.

Viktor & Rolf’s signature collections are famous for their tailoring and layering and their contemporary shows are full of surreal experiences and sculptural exaggerations. The signature collection has been complemented with menswear, accessories and fragrances.

LA Confidential magazine is featuring for its April- May 2012 issue is icy-hot with metallic colors of deep turquoise-blue hues and cold electric light. The model Nicola Haffmans showcases brilliantly styled clothing and accessories from Louis Vuitton, Proenza Schouler and Chanel.

The icy photo shoot was photographed by Stevie Verroca and Mada Refujio and took place next to the concert hall named after Walt Disney in Los Angeles. Nicola Haffmans poses against the modern buildings with high walls and futuristic curves which gives the cool look to the editorial.

Stevie Verroca and Mada Refujio met in Los Angeles in 2005 and began working together shortly thereafter. With a combined background in fashion design and art history, Stevie and Mada are creating images that are both classic and distinct. Stevie and Mada work carefully with post production to seam together subtle moments of real beauty with well-defined imagination.

Nicola Haffmans, born in in Holland, she is a newcomer in the fashion scene. She got an amazing start in the cast for director Russel Marsh and she made her debut on NYCs runways and continued her amazing show season in Paris. She was walking for Alexander McQueen’s and Alber Elbaz’s Pret a Porter shows.

Kenzo Fall Winter 2012-13- Stylert.com

 

Kenzo who is famous for his patchworks and energetic colours has presented her FW-2012-13 collection at the Paris Fashion Week. Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are infusing unexpected prints and patterns and vibrant colors to their coming season.

Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are known for being hip and choosing pieces for the young. For their second season at Kenzo, they presented a vibrant collection of mixed prints, bold colors, geometric knits and monochromatic suits in velvet.

The New York-based duo, who founded cool New York label Opening Ceremony may seemed an unexpected choice to take over Kenzo after taking from Antonio Marras in July last year.

With the new collections, they try to inject the brand with a youthful spirit and a sense of fun and cheekiness. But we also want to respect and preserve the traditions of the Kenzohouse, such as the importance of prints and the sense of worldliness and travel that has been intrinsic to every collection in the history of Kenzo.

Raf Simons Replaces John Galliano at Dior- Stylert.com

 

Raf Simons replaces John Galliano as creative director at the helm of Dior. Raf Simons was the creative director for Jil Sander the past seven years.

Raf Simons presented his last collection for Jil Sander in Milan.For fall and winter 2012-13, the designer presented a beautiful parade of dresses and coats in a gorgeous simplicity and elegance.

Jil Sander left the company in 2005. Raf Simons is a Belgian fashion designer. He studied Industrial design, but after a few years of self-study, he became a menswear designer in 1995. Initially, he worked with Walter Van Beirendonck in Paris, where he was exposed to the work of Martin Margiela and Jean-Paul Gaultier.

According to a tweet by fashion critic Cathy Horyn on 23rd February 2012 in the midst of Milan Fashion Week, Simons would be presenting his last collection for the label, the Fall/Winter 2012/13 collection.

It has been rumoured that Jil Sander would return to the helm of the label for a third time as reported by several German tabloids.

In April 2012, it was announced that Simons would replace John Galliano as creative director at the helm of Dior.

Barbara Bui FW-2012-13- Stylert.com

 

Barbara Bui known for her elegant design presented her FW-2012-13 collection at the Paris Fashion Week. The collection inspired by the 70s and is focused on high-end materials and refined tailoring.

Influenced by her multicultural roots, Barbara Bui was born in Paris in 1956 to a Vietnamese father and a French mother.

In the mid 1980′s she opened a boutique which they called “Kubuki”. This was quite successful. They sold clothes designed by Bui as well as other designers and it became a well-stocked fashion resource. By 1988, Barbara was designing men’s and women’s collections.

In 1987 she had her first fashion show presentation of the full collection to international press and buyers. The brand Barbara Bui is born. In 1988 she opens her first Barbara Bui boutique on the rue Etienne Marcel in Paris and is met with formidable and immediate success on an international scale.

Bui creates Initials Barbara Bui, a secondary line of separates designed to complement the spirit of the principal line. The special emphasis on the trousers, androgynous and feminine, establishes a wide and loyal following.

Barbara Bui is unanimously elected as a member of the “Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Francaise et des Createurs de Mode È and returns to the runways during the Paris Fashion Week.

Diesel Black Gold FW 2012-13-Stylert.com

 

Diesel Black Gold presented its FW- 2012-13 collection for women at the New York Fashion Week and for men in Milan. The brand focuses on outerwear mixed in with coolness, geometric knits and lots of leather.

Sophia Kokosalaki, who is designing the women’s collection, is focused on leather jackets and sexy asymmetric leather skirts with attached belts, shorts in shiny leopard prints, leather trench coat, black-and-white sweater with a pop art image.

In Milan Renzo Rosso for men, showed usual a lot of leather jackets, also leather pants, suede sleeved sweatshirt knit, tailored denim suits, chunky knit sweaters and turtlenecks.

Rosso launched Diesel Black Gold 2008. The line produces artfully distressed denim and leather which gives a new twist to the traditional garments and iconic blends of past and future.

Diesel Black Gold has become the largest non-designer label in the contemporary high-end fashion market and has successfully managed to become a casual alternative to other luxury brands In 2009, Greek designer Sophia Kokosalaki came onboard as the line’s new head designer, and received great acclaim as her first collection was presented in 2010 at New York Fashion Week.
