How To Improve Your Image-Stylert.com

Everybody now spends more time and effort on their look. How we present ourselves at work, in our social and home lives has become so much more important. Here are few tips to look cool and feel more confident. We all have a mental picture of who we are, how we look, what we’re good at, and what our weaknesses might be. We develop this picture over time, starting when we’re very young kids. The term self-image is used to refer to a person’s mental picture of himself or herself. A lot of our self-image is based on interactions we have with other people and our life experiences. This mental picture (our self-image) contributes to our self-esteem.

1. Good skin is basic. Soap or lotion and moisturising every day are the first steps how you can improve the look of your skin. Pick a moisturiser with sun protection because sun damage is the main factor that ages skin. Use sunglasses when to go out to the sun this helps to protect the sensitive skin around your eyes.

2. Get enough exercise by joining a gym or sports club will encourage you to exercise. A balanced diet containing fresh vegetables and fruit is good. Get into the habit of drinking 8 glasses of water a day, this can help moisturize your skin and keeps you healthy, improves hair and helps detoxing your whole body. Try limiting your fast food intake.

4. Change your style and update your wardrobe with a few new essentials. The first thing people notice is the clothes you will be wearing. People judge us by how we look. Keep your wardrobe, smart and trendy! Get a good hairstyle and make-up. Often the more expensive salons tend to keep up to date with fashion trends and products and can offer hair care that makes the most of what you have. If you want to change your hair colour the best way is to get it done professionally. Badly done hair colour changes can give you a negative image, although sometimes unusual hair colours can look very stylish for very flamboyant personality but only when they are very well done from professionals.

How to Choose the Right Evening Dress-Stylert.com

Which evening dress would make you look good? Any dress that boosts your confidence and makes you feel great would be the right choice, whether it is knee high or drapes to the floor. Choose the women evening dress that suits you the best and makes you feel good. Women who are on the larger side can wear dark colours of dress as this would make them look small a little bit. For women who are shorter, vertically striped skirts and shirts would be fine as it would make them look taller. They can also opt for v-necks and vertical pleats. Vertical slits in the skirts would also make them look taller. Make sure the horizontal features are reduced. If you are too tall and want to reduce it with the looks, then you can opt for the horizontal stripes in your women evening dress. You can also opt for horizontal features like frills, hem lines and waist lines. Large ruffles (seen in the latest Stella McCartney collection), small ruffles (in Marc Jacobs), Plissé by  (Ralph Lauren (Iceberg) folds up leopard prints – all kinds has been seen in the latest evening dress collections. The Dutch designers team Viktor & Rolf was wrapping around the model’s body a real ruffle sculpture. However, if you choose a ruffled evening dress; avoid too many ruffles in one outfit and watch carefully body shape. Ruffles are great to wear and can balancing imperfect body shapes if you use the right amount. Ruffles can dress up an outfit or be added to change an existing outfit. Wear ruffle skirt with a blazer and with simple shirts. Or match a lovely ruffle look perfect with skinny jeans. If you have an area you want to seem smaller, you usually don’t want to add ruffles there. This would be for example like:  Add ruffles to the bust if you want to make it seem fuller. If you add ruffles to the shoulders it helps to balance your hips. If you wear ruffles on the hips it helps you look like slimmer legs. Meaning; don’t add bulk ruffle where you’ve already got a little extra padding.  If you have big boobs you probably don’t want to wear big, tiered ruffles over them.  Think more like a cute ruffled skirt or hemline. In opposite if you have more of a straight body type, ruffles can add you nice curves and volume in the right places.

What Does Urban Chic Style Look Like-Stylert.com

As the Urban Clothing gets so popular as the days goes by, many designers keep their ears close to the street to be updated and make new styles of urban trendy clothes. Also, any urban fashion designers are making a conscious shift from making previous styles to a new bold look of urban fashion. What does it take to get the urban look? Well, the answer is superbly simple. You need to feel and look urban by wearing the right kind of urban clothes, along with that self-confidence of being totally hip and cool, and that both men and women are entitled to flaunt their urban look. Urban fashion style is highly influenced and driven by music. The video clips that come with them and the artist have an even bigger impact to the fashion. In fact the artists have become fashion icons and standards themselves.  It is rather something that you can associate yourself with. Knowing the influence of urban should be the first step to make you in style. Wearing urban is displaying your lifestyle. An urban hipster is someone who is in their twenties, doesn’t have any serious responsibilities as of yet and are free to enjoy life. Their style tells the world that they are an anything goes kind of person and in this sense they often spawn new fashion styles. That’s okay; you don’t have to be an urban hipster to dress like an urban hipster. You just have to look like it and be able to pull off the mindset every now and then. Urban Clothing is a trend of dress style of people leaving in city and is not something that is very new in the society. It is a development which has come about from the hip-hop culture and the extreme sports arena. It is characterized as bold, aggressive, new trendy, expressive, fearlessness of the hip-hop generation and is distinguished from others by these characteristics. Urban wear clothing design must be youthful and aggressive in design. Brands such as Akademiks, Rocaeear, Ecko are identifies with the urban clothing and the designs are inspired by the street culture that gave rise to both rap and urban clothing designing. You can check out different brands that have quality men’s urban wear. You might be surprised that some of these brands were made by your favourite cool guys such as Baby Phat and Eminem. Of course there are so many other brands that exist but you are assured that you would be getting only the best urban clothing.

Geek Chic With a Twist-Stylert.com

Picture ELLE

Are you a real geek? Are you proud of being a geek? You can be cute (or sexy), yet embrace your geeky style. Geek fashion refers to the embracing of stereotypically unpopular “geek” characteristics such as glasses. They dress almost identical to hipsters but verge more towards being into comic books, pop culture, technology, etc. rather than hipsters who are more into poetry, brooding, and generally being pretentious. The definition: Well, basically, you take key pieces of a typically geeky wardrobe and wear them with purpose and aplomb, to make a point. Not because you’re clueless and out of the fashion loop, not because you can’t afford Ralph Lauren — because you want to. Think thick black glasses, pinstriped suits with skinny ties, sweater vests, and pocket protectors — a hipster vibe with a nerdy edge. T-shirts with slogans like “There’s no place like 127.0.0.1″ (the IP address of your home machine) make the cut. It’s about reclaiming the geek identity as something not only meaningful, but also stylish. This look is so wrong that it looks right. And it’s the whole purpose of the trend, really. Geek chic celebrities include people like Tina Fey and Andy Samberg. It is highly debatable whether this trend actually means that “real geeks” are more popular than they were previously, or if it merely represents a superficial addition of “nerdy” elements to current fashion trends. Many elements that arguably define “geekiness”, such as varying degrees of social awkwardness, mathematical ability, strong interest in science and/or science fiction and fantasy, and varying degrees of disinterest in one’s personal appearance, remain unfashionable. Similar trends have often occurred in the past; for example, French Orientalism and exoticism of the 19th century incorporated visual elements from Asian and African cultures, but did not necessarily imply that people from these cultures were themselves viewed as fashionable. Much of the geek chic image borrows from various alternative youth subcultures such as emo, preppy, goth, hippie, and bohemian amongst others. You can mix geek chick with many other styles. Don’t limit yourself!

The Preppy Clothing Style-Stylert.com

Preps originally came from England and it started with the British horse riding sport, POLO. That is where polo tops get their names. Really, Americans stole the preppy style from the British, to create Abercrombie. Their look is very polished; the girls are neat and are mostly blond haired. The preppy style originated in the 1950s. As the style is associated with Brands such as L.L. Bean, Polo Ralph Lauren, Ralph Lauren, Lilly Pulitzer, Lacoste, Brooks Brothers, Vineyard Vines, J.Crew and J.Press  Preppies frequently wear more traditional styles. Classical preps frequently dress formally; the teenage prep often models the appearance of a young professional adult. Well, being ‘preppy’ is not so much about where you get your clothes, but more how you wear your clothes. Stores like Abercrombie, Jack Wills, American Eagle and Hollister lend themselves to the preppy style. However, it isn’t just where they buy their clothes, but more the style of their clothes. Makeup wise, they keep it low key and natural in general. Most preps wear their mother’s, grandmother’s, or aunt’s old diamond and pearl jewellery.

Preppy girls wear ballet flats, top-siders (boat shoes), ribbon/canvas flip-flops, Rainbow sandals, and simple leather high heels and wedges in shoes.

Preppy guys wear classical loafers, leather moccasins, suede loafers, boat shoes (top-siders) or leather flip-flops. For formal wear, they wear leather dress shoes in black or brown.

Preppies often attend prep schools (ie Middlesex School, Governor Dummer Academy, and Belmont Hill) followed by New England private colleges. It is a common misconception that preppies are snobs. Many people view them as unapproachable, and as a result mislabel them. Preppies are not as rich as people may think they are, but they are often well off. They buy into classics rather than trends, and don’t change their lifestyles with fads.  Wearing a pair of top-siders without socks is classic preppy.

How To Get Bohemian Style-Stylert.com

Picture ELLE

Reflecting on the fashion style of “boho-chic” in the early years of the 21st century, the Sunday Times thought it ironic that “fashionable girls wore roughly floral skirts in the hope of looking bohemian, nomadic, spirited and non-bourgeois”, whereas “gypsy girls themselves ..are sexy and delightful precisely because they do not give a hoot for fashion” . By contrast, in the late 19th century and first half of the 20th, aspects of Bohemian fashion reflected the lifestyle itself. This style is often called hippie-chic, or even hobo-chic. Several women who have had an influence on bohemian style in recent years are Sienna Miller, Kate Moss and Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen. Many celebrities wear bohemian style clothing. This look is seen every day, even on the red carpet. If you can’t afford an entire new wardrobe here is how to get the bohemian style clothing look with just a few new pieces. Bohemian is a style that never really goes away. Whether it’s a theatrical, classical La Bohème-inspired look or it’s Kate Hudson à la Almost Famous, Bohemian is always casual cool. For autumn winter 2010-2011 Bohemian style just went up a whole notch. All kinds of bohemian-inspired looks, prints and accessories were on the runways. Coloured patterns and mixed prints paired with a bit of rock and roll should set the image in motion. Sheer is another classic bohemian signature because it’s sexy, romantic and borders edgy. Vests, hats, scarves and any kind of head gear can help achieve a bohemian look. Accessories that look somehow oriental or gypsy-ish will also add boho flare.

Amazing Facts About Red Hair-Stylert.com

Are you a ginger?  The 2% of the world’s population that currently has red hair inherited a gene that once helped humans make vitamin D from sunlight. If you want to boost the odds of landing your very own Nicole Kidman, Lindsay Lohan, or Conan O’Brien, head to Scotland—13% of the population there has red hair, and three times that many carry the gene.

Recently, many news organizations have reported that true redheads or “gingers,” are declining in number and may soon be gone altogether. Citing the “Oxford Hair Foundation”,  they claimed that there would be no more redheads by as early as 2060. It turns out that the redhead extinction claim is bogus. Redheads are here to stay and should be around well beyond 2060, or even 2061.

Some of the articles discussing redhead extinction referred to the Oxford Hair Foundation as an “independent” research foundation, but here’s the scoop: the Oxford Hair Foundation is funded by Proctor & Gamble, makers of numerous beauty products—including red hair dye.

Did you know:

1. Sixty percent of women who dye their hair do so at home. Of them, 26% choose to go blonde, 27% go brunette, and 30% choose to become redheads. The sale of at home red dye kits has gone up 17% since the year 2000.

2. Red hair is a genetic mutation.

3. Red hair is seen on the heads of only 4% of people. Most of the world’s natural redheads are in Scotland (13%), followed by Ireland with 10%, and the US with 2%.

4. In the late 16th century, the fat of a redheaded man was an essential ingredient for poison.

5. In the early 1600s, the belief of Pixies, who were strongly associated with red hair for their mischievousness and otherworldly talents, emerged in southwest England.

6. Redheads are harder to sedate than any other people, requiring 20% more anesthesia. Inadequate doses cause people to wake up during surgery and have increased recall of procedures.

7. Redheads don’t turn grey. Red hair turns sandy, then white and loses color later in life than people with other hair colors.

8. The perception of the color red, scientifically speaking, enhances the viewer’s metabolism and increases heart rate and respiration.

9. The country name of Russia means “land of reds” in honor of a redheaded Viking by the name of Rurik.

10. Red-haired Clowns have their origins in Russia.

11. From the 1930s to 1950s, Cassville, Missouri hosted a women’s basketball team called The Redheads, who became a much sought after exhibition team that rivalled the Harlem Globe trotters. Not all of them were natural red heads.

12. The first redheaded British monarch was a woman. Boudicca, a Celtic warrior, led the Icenti against the Romans in the C.E. 60s.

What is Street Fashion?-Stylert.com

Street fashion is a term used to describe fashion that is considered to have emerged not from studios, but from the grassroots. Street fashion is generally associated with youth culture, and is most often seen in major urban centres. Street fashion sustains multiple simultaneous highly diverse fashion movements at any given time.

Whilst the world-renowned designers showcased their collections for the new seasons in all the fashion capital all eyes are expecting the next big trends to come floating down the catwalk, but what was happening on the streets was just as exciting. Some of the best outfit ideas are from the London street fashion and New York street fashion. There was an eclectic mix of colours, from fluorescent coats to bright red hair, all individually trendy in their own unique way. These are some of my favourite people in London during Fashion Week – sustaining the city’s urban cool vibe that is often what inspires the designers, and which you later see on the catwalk. So who knows, some of the street trends now could well be spotted on the catwalk next season. London maintained its reputation as having some of the most fashion forward and stylish inhabitants, as well as visitors adding to the diversity. You just need to get out in London and open your eyes. Definitely it is the way to approach for people to show them who they are. I try to stay a bit different from mainstream trends. They don’t necessarily follow what’s “in” but they often put together outfits that reflect their personality and mood. And since they’ve create something that’s totally them, it looks so good because they feel comfortable in it! Mainstream fashion often appropriates street fashion trends as influences. Most major youth subcultures have had an associated street fashion. Examples include:

Hippies (denim, T-shirts, long hair, flower power and psychedelic imagery, flared trousers)

Teddy Boys (drape jackets, drainpipe trousers, crepe shoes)

Punk fashion (ripped clothing, safety pins, bondage, provocative T-shirt slogans, Mohican hairstyle)

Skinheads (short-cropped hair, fitted jeans, Ben Sherman button-up shirts, Fred Perry polo shirts, Harrington jackets, Dr. Martens boots)

Gothic fashion (black clothing, heavy coats, poet shirts, big boots, makeup).

Hip hop fashion (501 Levis, ECKO, South Pole, Avirex, Sean Jean, NIKE)
